Pennsylvania Gaming Act Under Scanner

The Pennsylvania Gaming Act might have an unconstitutional portion of it which has recently come under the scanner.


There has been a committee set up known as the House Gaming Oversight Committee, which is looking into the matter so that they can get the glitch fixed before the year comes to an end. The Chairman of the committee was urging the committee members to get the fix done as soon as possible. A hearing was held by the committee last Wednesday. It is indeed a rare event whereby an issue needs to be looked into concerning an act that has been passed by the respective legislative body already.

John Payne is the Chairman who is due to retire next month. He has represented the state about 13 years till now. Having worked hard to protect the interests of the consumers and helping commercial gaming avenues add to the revenues of the state, he has been a pivotal figure in putting the state in a prominent position when it comes to earnings of the casino industry. The meeting is regarding internet gaming which is the 55th meeting on the issue. The bill AB150 is about regulating online casino games, fantasy sports betting and internet poker.
